Our Michigan 77 Tri-Metal racing bearings are coated with heavy duty PC-9 Poly-Moly. It is an anti-friction, anti-wear, anti-seizing coating for hi-horsepower to reduce heat and horsepower loss. It will reduce oil temperatures by as much as 40 degrees Fahrenheit and create 2-3 more pounds of oil pressure and last longer which results in not needing to replace bearings every 250,000 miles.
THE ORIGINAL TRI-METAL BEARING
Unlike many heavy duty engine bearings, Michigan 77® heavy duty engine bearings stamped “CL-112” utilize a superior evite ® Tri-Metal material design. This design incorporates three metal layers (see illustration), including an intermediate copper-lead layer construction that produces an interlocked columnar structure capable of withstanding much heavier pulsating loads than any other design. These Tri-Metal 112 Bearings have been tested at 12,000 PSI without failure. They are most resistant to corrosion and outperform the competition’s best offering by 20% or more.
Tri-Metal is an ideal bearing design producing good to excellent characteristics when judged for slipperiness, embed ability, conformability and fatigue resistance. These ideal properties are not found in many original equipment and competitive bearings.
The Michigan 77 brand also offers Tri-Metal rod and main bearings for automotive and racing applications stamped “Clevite 77”.
